History Of Waec

The West African Examinations Council (WAEC), a non-profit-making organization, with its headquarters in Accra, Ghana, was established in 1952 after the Governments of Ghana (then Gold Coast), Nigeria, Sierra Leone and The Gambia enacted the West African Examinations Council Ordinances in 1951. Liberia became the fifth member of the Council in 1974.

The enactment of the Ordinances was based on the Jeffrey Report, which strongly supported the proposal for the setting up of a regional examining board to harmonize and standardize pre-university assessment procedures in the then British West Africa.

The main objectives of the Council are:

• To conduct examinations in the public interest
• To award certificates, provided that the certificates did not represent lower standards of attainment than equivalent certificates of examining authorities in the United Kingdom.

The Council celebrated its 30th anniversary in March 1982 in Monrovia, Liberia during which the Convention establishing the WAEC was signed. The Convention was subsequently ratified by member Governments and came into force in August 1984.

The Council under the Convention was inaugurated in March 1985. The Convention now gives uniform legal backing to the operations of the Council in all the member countries, makes provision for significant changes in the structure of the Council and gives it legal personality as an international body. A Headquarters Agreement signed with the Government of Ghana in 1987 confers certain privileges and immunities on the Council’s Headquarters in Ghana.

How to Register For WAEC 2023/2024

1. The first thing you must do is that you must ensure you visit http://www.waecnigeria.org to confirm the examination towns and centres on the council.
2. Ensure you pay for the registration pin.
3. Thereafter register and supply all your details.
4. Continue to study hard for the exams.
5. Lastly, wait till when the exams will begin and start.

When is waec 2023/2024 registration starting?

The wassce registration for school candidates is always between December and January of every year.

When is WAEC registration for 2023 Closing?

The deadline or closing date for waec Form is usually around January or February and the exams are written starting from April/May through June.

How much is Waec form in Nigeria?

The waec registration fee for private individuals is 13,950 naira. You should note that you will be required to pay another sum of N500 naira only to the banks or centers.

Payments can be made to any of the following banks: Zenith Bank, GTBank, Access Bank, Stanbic IBTC Bank, Union Bank, Ecobank, Heritage Bank, First Bank, Sterling Bank, WEMA Bank, First City Monument Bank, Fidelity Bank, Polarise Bank, UBA, Standard Chartered Bank, Unity Bank, Jaiz Bank.

Pay the required fee and get the registration pin and continue your registration on the portal.

You can pass this exam without reading, the only way to excel is to read your notes, textbooks, solve lots of past questions and keep praying.

WAEC Expo Questions and Answers

There’s nothing much I have to say about expo but don’t do it. I repeat, don’t do it at all.

There is no gain in examination malpractice, you can ask last year’s candidates how a lot of results were withheld, canceled and some schools were banned from doing WAEC.
